2016 Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills

Our Bridlewood Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir opens with complex aromas that are both spicy and floral. Hints of dried sage and ginger meld with flavors of dark cherry cola, red fruit and earthy notes for a Pinot that is distinctly Santa Rita. The finish is lingering and intense with a touch of vanilla from oak aging.

In 2016, we selected the fruit for this 2016 Pinot Noir from one premier site in the Santa Rita Hills. Only 100 square miles large, the Santa Rita Hills AVA is known to produce one-of-a-kind, cool-climate Pinot Noir wines. Here, the Pinot Noir grapes are grown close to the Santa Ynez River and experience frequent cooling breezes throughout the growing season, extending their time on the vine and creating a delicious balance of flavors. The 2016 harvest in California was early, with a mostly normal yield of exceptional quality fruit throughout the state.

Wine Tips:

The grapes for this wine were 100% hand-harvested. We used a minimalist approach to the winemaking allowing for fuller expression of the fruit. We sourced fruit from 2 separate blocks and fermented separately in open-top tanks to allow for gentle extraction. The wine was aged in French and American oak barrels for 11 months.
