2016 Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands

The grapes for our Chardonnay were selected from the Santa Lucia Highlands, the premier winegrowing district in the Monterey AVA. The Santa Lucia Highlands harvest in 2016 was early and produced a yield of exceptional quality fruit. The season began with welcome winter rains followed by a warm spring and early summer. Cooler evening temperatures and warm sunshine in July and August allowed the grapes to mature perfectly, producing small berries in excellent condition. This ideal harvest produced beautifully balanced wines, deep flavors and an elegant expression of the varietal.

The grapes were hand-picked in the cool of the early morning and whole cluster pressed. The resulting juice was cold settled then racked to barrel for fermentation. Following fermentation, the wines were stirred weekly on their lees to create a creamy, rich texture.

Wine Tips:

Our Bridlewood Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay is a rich and full-bodied wine. This delicate wine features a bright straw color and golden hue, and offers vibrant notes of white peach and poached pear that mingle with hints of butterscotch and toasted oak on the palate. Savory characteristics of tahini and white miso lead the way to a crisp, refreshing finish.
